Simcoe landfill gets a life extension

The Tom Howe landfill in Springvale is not filling up as quickly as expected.

Therefore, Norfolk and Haldimand will not close the dump at the end of 2011 as scheduled. Instead, the landfill site is now scheduled to close on December 31st, 2017.

Reasons for the extended life of the site include that current economic downtown in the region as well as the fact that people are recycling more than in the past.
