Man dies in hospital after being shot by Niagara police, SIU investigating

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating the death of man shot by police in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Niagara regional police say there was an interaction with a man Tuesday afternoon after officers responded to reports of an impaired driver in Niagara Falls.

They say officers had an “interaction” with a man, after which he was shot by police.

Police say the man suffered life-threatening injuries and died in hospital.

The Special Investigations Unit is investigating, as is the Niagara police force.
