Shoppers Drug Mart technical issue causes prescription delays

The owner of Shoppers Drug Mart says some of its stores are still experiencing system issues, causing delays for people needing to fill prescriptions.

A spokesperson for Loblaw confirmed in an email to CHCH News that it was just a technical problem.

“There is no system or data breach,” they said.

“We apologize for the delay and the frustration this may have caused.”

Shoppers’ employees are continuing to work through the backlog, the spokesperson said.

A number of customers took to Twitter to voice their concerns, including someone who waited several days for their inhaler to be refilled.

@ShopprsDrugMart where does it say your entire pharmacy computers were down this past wkend for Ont?Would love to know why a prescription called in at 9:05 Fri Jan 13th,didn’t get filled prior to Sun 15th issue. An inhaler to breathe & now none in store. WTF?
