Shoplifter chased down by store owner, Hamilton woman arrested

A Hamilton woman has been arrested after a store owner chased down a shoplifter in Port Dover.

Police were called to a business on Walker St. around 7 p.m. Saturday.

A woman had entered the store and stole a quantity of merchandise before fleeing on foot.

The shop owner chased after the woman and contacted police.

Officers patrolling the area arrived on scene and arrested the 39-year-old woman.

She has been charged with theft under $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
