The video is silent, but you can see that Mendoza was grabbed by the customer, who wrestles with her.

Mendoza says the attack started when a customer wasn’t happy with the way her eyelashes were done. Mendoza says she offered to fix it, the customer then wanted her eyebrows done and was getting aggressive and loud so she recorded the video on her cellphone.

Mendoza says, “(she) pushed me to the wall, grabbed my back, pulled my hands, restrained me for like three minutes…” She adds, “I’m so traumatized because this is my first time being assaulted…”

Mendoza’s employer Elva Loncaric says when the police arrived, officers saw the video but didn’t arrest the attacker who was there at the time and left the impression there wouldn’t be any charges.

Loncaric says, “I just wish that the Hamilton police would do a better job at like protecting us…” She says this kind of incident needs to be taken more seriously and adds, “it’s our safety and as service providers, we should feel safe in our environment.”

CHCH News spoke to the customer by phone on Thursday. She wouldn’t go on camera but said she didn’t attack Mendoza and was just reaching for the phone and didn’t touch her.
