Hamilton man arrested following series of arson attacks

Hamilton police have arrested a man in connection with a series of arson attacks at the same home in March.

Around 3 a.m. on March 10, officers responded to a home on Elm Street where a wooden fence attached to the residence was found on fire. City fire investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set.

On March 11, at around 3 a.m., authorities responded to another fire at the same residence. This time, a vehicle parked in the driveway had been set on fire. The investigation later confirmed it was an act of arson.

Two days later, on March 13 at 3 a.m., a third fire was deliberately set, causing extensive damage to the residence. All six occupants were able to escape safely. Authorities say the fire caused approximately $800,000 in damages.

Investigators identified and arrested 28-year-old Julian Jesso and charged him with:

  • Possession of Incendiary Material (2)
  • Arson – Damage to Property (2)
  • Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence – Arson Disregard Human Life
  • Criminal Harassment
