Sex assault suspect nabbed 37 years later

Hamilton Police have laid sexual assault charges against a former school official for incidents alleged to have occurred almost four decades ago.

John Leek, 69, of Whitby is charged with indecent assault on a male and gross indecency. Leek worked for both the Hamilton and Peel school boards as a truancy counsellor at the time of the offences between June 1976 and December 1977.

Hamilton Police arrested him yesterday. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
