Nine people are facing charges in connection with an identity theft and human smuggling investigation involving Seven-Eleven workers in New York.

Federal investigators raided 14 convenience stores in Long Island and Virginia today. Prosecutors say some owners and managers smuggled workers from Pakistan, stole their wages, and kept them in illegal boarding rooms.

They’re also accused of stealing identities, including those if children and dead people, to put the workers on the payroll.
