Senior dies after SUV collides with mobility scooter in Welland

An 88-year-old man has died after his mobility scooter was struck by a vehicle in Welland.
Emergency crews were called to a serious collision at the intersection of Thorold Rd. and Prince Charles Dr. around 9 a.m. on July 22.
Police learned a Ford Escape driven by a 46-year-old Welland woman had collided with the man while he was on a mobility assistive device.
The man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital where he died nearly a week later.
No charges have been laid at this time.
The investigation is ongoing by detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Services Unit.
