Senate look to suspend Wallin, Duffy for “gross negligence”

The Upper Senate is moving to suspend former Conservative Senators Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin from the Senate without pay for “gross negligence.”

The motion comes as Duffy announced he’s taking a medical leave from the Upper Chamber. He’s been at the centre of an ongoing housing expenses scandal and other allegations of misuse of power.

In a statement, Duffy says he is under doctor’s orders to remain away from work after suffering a recent bout of unstable angina that resulted in a two-day hospital stay.

Wallin aslo found herself embroiled in the Senate scandal for her questionable expense claims. So far she’s repaid more than $140,000 in expenses.

The motion also toughens the suspension of Patrick Brazeau, who was booted from the Conservative caucus after he was charged with sexual assault earlier this year.

He’s also a part of the RCMP investigation for his expense accounts.
