A ruling from the Senate speaker Wednesday somewhat guarantees that the motions to suspend Senators Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin and Patrick Brazeau without pay, won’t come to a vote before next week. That means the Senate expense scandal will likely dominate much of the talk at the Conservative Party National Convention in Calgary this weekend. The Speaker who is a Conservative, ruled the bid to shut down debate was out of order which makes it harder for the Harper government to blame Liberal stalling tactics for the numerous snags that have helped the politically explosive debate drag on for almost two full weeks.
