Second impeachment trial of former U.S. President Donald Trump begins

Senate leaders have reached a deal on how they will structure former U.S. President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

A vote Tuesday afternoon will begin the historic proceedings.

The Senate trial begins in earnest on Wednesday, with prosecutors arguing that Trump incited a violent mob to attack the U.S. Capitol in an effort to overturn the election results.

Trump’s defence team insists his fiery words are just a figure of speech.
