Second escape from Hamilton’s St. Joseph’s Hospital

Hamilton Police is asking for help locating an involuntary patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital West 5th campus.

Police say Jason Murray may pose as a threat to the community and there is a concern for his safety.

The 38-year-old was being supervised by two hospital staff when he took off and out ran them. He was last seen running westbound through a wooded area around 2:30 pm on Wednesday. Police have used the K-9 unit, ATV’s and horses to search for him.

Murray is described as male, white with a slim build, 5’7” with brown shaggy hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap and sunglasses, blue shirt and brown pants.

Members of the public are urged not to approach Murray but should call 911 immediately.

This is the second time this month a dangerous patient has escaped from the hospital.

On June 4, Syna Lorn, who was also considered to be a threat to the public, walked away from the same facility.

In 2006 he attacked a cab driver with a machete and slashed his roommate’s head with a samurai sword in 2017. He turned himself into police the next day.
