Search for sex offender continues

Hamilton police are still looking for a convicted sex offender who walked away from a Hamilton psychiatric facility Friday afternoon.

Stephen Jones has not been located and police warn that he is dangerous. The 57 year old left the St. Josephs Psychiatric Facility on Hamilton Mountain and has not returned.

Jones was wearing a green sweater and blue or gray coat, and is described as 5′ 6″ and 150 lbs.

Officials at St. Joe’s say Jones was not supervised and allowed to walk around on the hospital’s property because the Ontario review board had determined he was doing well and did not require supervision outdoors. However, if he wanted to leave the property, he was supposed have direct supervision.

Both the hospital and police say Jones has no ties to Hamilton, and they have no leads on where he might be. If you have any information on his whereabouts, you’re being asked to call Hamilton Police.
