Search continues for shooter in murder of Stoney Creek ‘family man’

Hamilton police are continuing their search for a gunman and other possible suspects after a man was fatally shot outside his home in Stoney Creek.
Police say 42-year-old Giorgio Barresi was gunned down around 10:45 p.m. Monday in the driveway of his home on Portofino Place.
Officers were called to the area after receiving multiple reports of shots fired by nearby residents.
Barresi was found suffering from gunshot wounds and, despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe multiple suspects and a four-door sedan were involved in the shooting.
During a news conference on Tuesday, investigators said Barresi was a “family man” and his loved ones were inside the home when he was shot.
The father of three worked as a realtor in the Golden Horseshoe Area. His family is requesting privacy at this time.
Police are asking residents in the area to check their surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Mike Ebert at 905-546-4167.
