Update: Search continues for missing boater after his sailboat was found near Rochester, NY

Update: Halton police have confirmed the missing sailboat has been located unoccupied near Rochester, NY, but there is still no sign of the missing boater, Eric Quimby.

65-year-old Eric Quimby was last seen getting into his boat at the Oakville Club Marina at approximately 10:40 a.m. Tuesday morning for a sail towards Stoney Creek. He has not been seen since.

Police say Quimby is a skilled sailor with more than 30 years of experience and makes this trip often. He is believed to be the only person on the boat.

He is described as white, 5’10, 220lbs with a medium build. He has short blonde hair, blue eyes and was wearing a white t-shirt, dark sweater and red shorts.

The vessel is described as a 30-foot sailboat with a red and white hull.

Halton, Peel and Toronto police marine units are taking part in the search along with the Canadian Coast Guard with air support from CFB Trenton.
