School closures and cancellations for Friday, Feb. 18, 2022

A winter storm rolled through Southern Ontario on Thursday and is expected to continue to bring heavy snow on Friday.

A snowfall warning is in effect for the Golden Horseshoe Area with up to 20 cm of snow expected today.

Here is a list of closures and cancellations from our area due to inclement weather:

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board: All Hamilton-Wentworth District schools, child care and e-learning are cancelled for today. Administrative buildings are closed and transportation is not running.

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board: All Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic schools are closed today. The elementary virtual school (for students who attend virtual regularly) will operate as per usual. The school board says in-person students can participate in asynchronous learning. Work will be posted by 10 a.m.

Halton District School Board All Halton District schools are closed. Administrative centres and transportation are also closed.

Halton Catholic District School Board: All Halton Catholic schools are closed. Administrative centres and transportation are also closed.

Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board: Transportation in all zones is cancelled and schools are closed. Students will have asynchronous learning activities posted on Brightspace class pages.

Grand Erie District School Board: All buses are cancelled today and schools are closed. Asynchronous learning will be available.

University of Guelph: Guelph campus is closed today due to inclement weather.

Niagara Children’s Centre School Authority: School is closed today due to the inclement weather conditions.

Lee Academy: The academy in Lynden is closed today, with no bussing, in person or remote classes.

Milton Community Resource Centre: The centre is closed today due to inclement weather.

Pumpkin Patch Daycare: The daycare at 440 Upper Wentworth St. is closed.

YMCA Child Care: All YMCA Child Care centres throughout Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford are closed.

YWCA Child Care: All YWCA Hamilton child care centres in Hamilton and Dunnville are closed today due to the weather.

Haldimand Norfolk Senior Support Services: All Meals on Wheels, Transportation and Adult Day Programs are cancelled.
