School bus driver charged after pedestrian struck in Hamilton

Hamilton police say the driver of a school bus has been charged with careless driving after a pedestrian was struck Friday morning.
Officers responded around 8:30 a.m. for reports of a collision involving a school bus at the intersection of Rice Avenue and Mohawk Road West.
Police say a 34-year-old female pedestrian at the scene was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the school bus was charged with careless driving.

The bus was working for the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, although there were reportedly no students on the bus at the time of the crash.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual struck by the bus and any others impacted by the accident,” school board chairperson Patrick J. Daly said in a statement.
