Scarborough crossbow deaths

A 35-year old man from Toronto has been charged in the deaths of three people involving a crossbow. 35 year old Brett Ryan appeared in a Toronto court today to face three, first-degree murder charges.
Police first were called to a Scarborough home on reports of a stabbing. Once they arrived at a home at Lawndale Road and Knowlton Drive, they found two men and a woman lying on the driveway. All three died at the scene. A crossbow was found near their bodies. Details of the proceedings, including the names of those killed, cannot be reported due to a publication ban.
“The cause of death of the woman found in the stand alone garage was ligature strangulation. The cause of death of the man in the stand alone garage was cross bow bolt stab wound to the neck. The cause of death of the man located on the driveway was a single arrowhead stab wound to the neck.” Mike Carbone, Toronto police.
Police did confirm that this incident is linked to a suspicious package that was found outside Ryan’s Toronto Harbourfront condo. He hasn’t been charged with anything in relation to that incident. Police say Ryan was charged in 2008 in a string of bank robberies by the so-called “Fake Beard Bandit,” but it’s unclear what happened to the charges.
Police say they want to talk to anyone who was in contact with Ryan between 7:30 and 11:30 a-m on Thursday. Ryan is being held until his next court appearance on September 2nd.
