Royal Family steps out for Prince Louis’ christening

Prince William and his wife Catherine’s third child Prince Louis has been christened in the Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace.

It was an occasion that brought out much of the Royal family, including Prince Charles and his wife Camilla and Prince Harry and his wife Meghan – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

This was the first time the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out with all three children.

The Queen and Prince Philip were not in attendance.

The christening came at the start of a busy week for the Queen, while Prince Philip, 97, has appeared on only a handful of occasions after retiring from public life last September.

Louis will have six godparents, including close friends and family members of the royal couple.

He wore the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, which was commissioned by the Queen in order to preserve the original.

The Royal Christening Robe was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal.

The original gown has been worn for all Royal christenings since, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren.

Following the 40-minute service, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge gave a private tea at Clarence House.

Guests were served slices of christening cake, which is a tier taken from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding cake.

Prince Louis was born on April 23 and is fifth in line to the British throne.
