Rob Ford in Los Angeles

Toronto mayor Rob Ford is getting the celebrity treatment on a surprise trip to Los Angeles, but it’s still not clear if he is attending tonight’s Academy Awards.

Ford touched down in L.A. yesterday where he was greeted by late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel wore a chauffeur’s cap and held a sign reading “ford.”

Ford’s brother, Doug, is also in Hollywood, and says the two will likely attend Kimmel’s Oscars party tonight.

The embattled mayor will appear on Kimmel’s show tomorrow night. The show has repeatedly poked fun at the mayor for his admitted drug use.
