Rising gun violence in Hamilton

A Hamilton man has turned himself into police after a fatal stabbing over the weekend.; the sixth murder in Hamilton this year.

Thirty-three year old Reald Vercani of Toronto was stabbed in the parking lot outside of the Coco Bongo Lounge at York and Queen, early Sunday morning. Through eye witnesses and video cameras, police were able to identify the killer.

“We pursued the male throughout the night, and ultimately he turned himself into police this morning at 10 am without incident.”

Hamilton police say the two men got into an argument inside the Coco Bongo lounge at around 3am. That argument turned into a short fight in the parking lot where the victim was stabbed. He died later in hospital.

A 29 year old Hamilton man is facing a charge of first degree murder, and will appear in court Tuesday morning. Police aren’t releasing his name yet.
