Ridgeway Vandals

A community is pulling together after a clubhouse and playground in Ridgeway was vandalized. Damage is estimated in the thousands, but thanks to generous donations the repairs won’t cost much as the clubhouse initially thought.

Sometime between Tuesday and Thursday vandals spray painted a swastica, graphic images and words across the building and a nearby playground at the Ridgeway-Crystal Beach Kinsmen club.

Lloyd McGuigan, the President of the local service club says the timing of this couldn’t have been worse. The club is helping out with the Ridgeway summer festival, which runs this weekend and all their volunteers are tied up. But locals in the area have stepped in donating both their time and money. Sherwin Williams has also donated paint and cleaning supplies.

Police are investigating but no arrests have been made. Members from MPP Wayne Gates’ office will be down in Ridgeway Sunday at noon to give the clubhouse a new paint job, everyone is welcome. The club will also be collecting donations for the damages at the Ridgeway summer festival this weekend.
