Renovating your house? Beware of this Halton home repair scam

Halton police are searching for two men wanted in connection with a home renovation scam targeting older adults in the region.
Investigators said the men posing as contractors are going door-to-door selling services the homeowner did not ask for.
The men allegedly provide quotes with lower than market value and once a deal is reached, will request a large cash payment.
Based on complaints, police said initial work may start but it is sub-par or incomplete.
The homeowner will then be asked to provide more money for supplies or to finish paying for the entire project. As soon as the payment is received, the contractor disappears and phone calls and text messages will go unanswered leaving the homeowner with a damaged or partially completed project.
There have been two complaints made in Halton, but investigators believe there may be more victims.
Both men are described as between the ages of 25 and 35, approximately five-foot-nine to six-foot with a heavy build and Irish or Scottish accents.
One of the men has dark black hair, while the other has short light blonde or light brown hair and a mustache.
Police said in both cases the suspects had a younger man with them claiming to be a son of one of the suspects.
