The young woman convicted in the murder of Toronto teen Stefanie Rengel is in court Thursday, in attempt to avoid a move to an adult facility.

Melissa Todorovic, who was 15 at the time of the New Year’s Day murder in 2008, turns 20 in January and is scheduled to move from a youth centre in Brampton to Kitchener’s Grand Valley Institution for Women.

Todorovic is appealing her conviction, and wants to stay at the Brampton facility until a judge rules on her appeal.

Todorovic and her then-boyfriend, David Bagshaw, were convicted of the murder and sentenced as adults.
