Regatta food drive

The 50th annual Brock Invitational Rowing Regatta took place in St. Catharines on Saturday.

More than 650 rowers from a dozen universities competed in the event.

Brock University’s rowing coach, Peter Somerwil, challenged all coaches and athletes to fill a pickup truck with canned goods.

The perishable items will be donated to the local non-profit organization ‘Community Care.’

He says they’re trying to collect as much as they can.

Other than canned goods, they’re also collecting cash donations.

Somerwil says Thanksgiving is a great time to help and he hopes that this can become an annual tradition.
