Sabra dipping company has issued a voluntary recall of some of its hummus and spreads over concerns about a possible Listeria contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency lists 25 brands of hummus with a best before date of January 23, 2017 and urges consumers to throw these products out.

This recall coincides with a similar one in the United States where the Listeria bacteria was found at the manufacturing centre but not in any of the products they tested.

In a statement, Health Canada said there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Listeria contaminated food may not look or smell bad but it can make you sick.

Symptoms vary but may include vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle aches, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
