RBG receives investment
The Government of Canada announced Friday that it will invest nearly $600,000 over the next three years in the Royal Botanical Gardens.
The money will be used for an innovative marketing project, to hopefully expand the gardens across the country. The Royal Botanical Gardens, located in Burlington, is the largest in Canada and brings in almost 200,000 visitors a year . It’s teaming up with 18 other gardens in Canada and plans to use the money to improve attendance, interest, and support for Canadian botanical gardens nationwide.
Mike Wallace, Burlington mp said…
“This is not the first time our government has made a significant investment here. Reasons are many, but some of the main ones are the significant role it plays on tourism and the role the botanical gardens plays on education. I am one of those people who needs to be educated between a botanical garden and horticultural display and the role that they play with many stakeholders in the area and the environment and so its with great pleasure we are here and representing the government investment.”
The $595,000 is the largest single investment ever made in the botanical garden network across Canada.
