Raptors’ Casey gets three year extension

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey is being rewarded after bringing the team to the playoffs.
Casey has signed a new three year contract with Toronto. Although it was a disappointing end to the season, the team set a franchise record, winning 48 games and capturing the Atlantic Division title.
His job was in question after the Raptors hired Masai Ujiri as GM. But doubts have been put to rest and Casey says there are new expectations for the Raptors.
“We’re not finished. We expect, we want to make the playoffs, we expect to make the playoffs… that’s our goal going into this season. Is it guaranteed? Again, nothing is guaranteed in this business but that should be our first goal.”
The Raptors took the vastly experienced Brooklyn Nets to seven games in the opening round of this years’ playoffs, but lost by just one point in the deciding game. Casey, 57, finished his third season with Toronto.
