Quinlan signs with Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes are giving Canadian Kyle Quinlan a chance to play quarterback in the CFL.

The Hec Crighton Trophy winner as Canadian university football’s top player signed a three-year contract with Montreal on Friday.

Unlike other Canadian quarterbacks who’ve been switched to other positions, the McMaster Marauders pivot will be given a chance to make the Als in his natural position.

The last Canadian to start a CFL game was Giulio Caravatta with the B.C. Lions in 1996.

The last homebrew to take a snap was Danny Brannagan, who went in late in the final game of the 2010 season for Toronto.
