Queen Elizabeth II turns 95, days after Prince Philip’s funeral

Queen Elizabeth is marking her 95th birthday on Wednesday.
She is marking the occasion with family at Windsor Castle.
Her birthday falls within the two week royal mourning period for her husband, Prince Philip, who was laid to rest last Saturday.

“My family and I would like to thank you for the support and kindness shown to us in recent days,” said a statement posted to Twitter.
“We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Phillip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.”
Her traditional birthday gun salute was called off, just like in 2020, when the Queen decided to cancel the celebration because she felt it would be inappropriate because of the pandemic.
