Woman charged after chemical attack on family member in Milton

Police have charged one person after they allegedly threw a chemical substance onto a woman walking in Milton, causing severe burns to her face and body.

The victim was walking in the afternoon on Mar. 9 near Syer Dr. and Maxted Cres. when the suspect approached her on foot and threw an unknown chemical onto her, coating parts of her face and body.

Police say the suspect then took the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital with severe injuries and police say she is in stable condition now but is dealing with life-altering injuries.

Officers have identified the suspect in this attack to be a family member of the victim.

A 57-year-old woman from Quebec was arrested Tuesday in Montreal and is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, and the administration of a noxious substance.

Police will not be releasing the identity of the victim or the accused out of respect for the family.
