14 people are now confirmed dead in the Quebec seniors’ home fire.

Thursday’s blaze destroyed the residence in L’isle-Verte which is about 240 kilometres northeast of Quebec City. Officials now say 18 people are still missing. Frigid temperatures have made recovery efforts difficult with search crews struggling to find human remains under the piles of rubble, ash and thick sheets of ice. Prime Minister Harper will attend a commemorative ceremony in L’isle-Verte this coming Saturday.
