Karl Tremblay, the lead singer of the folk-rock band Les Cowboy Fringants, died yesterday at the age of 47.

The renowned Canadian singer disclosed his diagnosis with prostate cancer in July of 2022, and continued to perform with his band while undergoing chemotherapy this year.

Tributes are pouring in on social media and flags are half-mast in several cities across Quebec where the band originated.

Several unofficial gatherings were planned across Quebec today to honour Tremblay, and Quebec’s premier is also offering Tremblay’s family a national funeral to pay tribute to the singer.
