Quarter of Canadians will alter Thanksgiving Dinner due to rising prices

A new study shows the majority of Canadians will stick with their traditional holiday meals, but almost a quarter of people surveyed will be making adjustments to the menu because of prices.

A turkey and all the fixings will cost you about 13 per cent more this year than the previous Thanksgiving.

Shoppers CHCH News spoke with outside of a grocery store on Barton Street in Hamilton say they now go to many different stores just to find better deals.

The co-owner of the Strathcona Market says he’s seeing more customers shopping around, “we deal primarily with local vendors, so we’re seeing less of an increase than stores dealing with larger suppliers.”

Despite the increased cost, more than two-thirds of Canadians will be eating the same thanksgiving meal they normally do.

Experts say food inflation in Canada has basically levelled off, and we could soon see prices go down, but slowly.
