QEW trailer crashes tie up traffic

A jack knifed tractor trailer caused some serious delays on the westbound QEW Wednesday evening.

The twisted trailer was stopped on the highway between Third Line and Bronte Road. The driver has been charged with careless driving after the truck lost control and hit the right barrier, before stopping in the HOV lane. Another vehicle was hit, but neither that driver or the truck driver were hurt. MTO had to clean up a small diesel fuel spill and pack some of the road that was gouged.

And several CHCH news viewers sent us pictures of a tractor trailer on fire Wednesday morning on the QEW. These shots were taken before fire fighters arrived. The driver says they had to drive on the shoulder to avoid the scene, but even being three lanes from the blaze they could feel the intense heat. The fire was put out quickly and police say the truck trailer was empty There were no injuries in this incident either.
