Halton police have released a photo of a vehicle they believe was involved in several purse thefts in the region.

Police say there were five separate incidents in Burlington and Oakville between Feb. 24 and Mar. 17.

They say someone entered various grocery stores, targeted older women and stole their purses and wallets.

Investigators are hoping the public can help identify the suspect vehicle which is described as a 2002 to 2006 silver Nissan Altima. The car is missing the front passenger hub cap and there is damage to the driver side door and rear bumper. It also has dark tinted windows.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to contact Cst. Derek Gray at 905-825-4747, ext. 2344.

Halton police are reminding residents to reduce your risk when shopping and only bring your driver’s licence, health card, and a few financial cards. “All Identity documents should be left securely at home. Don’t let your belongings out of sight and become distracted while shopping,” police say.
