Ontario is widening a seven kilometre stretch of Highway 427 from Campus Road and Fasken Drive to Steeles Avenue.

Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca was in Etobicoke this morning to explain the plan.

“We are committed to building a transportation network to help make life easier for people across every region across Ontario. That’s why we are here today to kick off construction on Highway 427 project from Campus Road and Fasken Drive to Steeles Avenue. This particular project will help improve traffic flow and help people and goods moving safely and efficiently on our highways.”

The project will see the section of Highway 427 expand from 5 to 8 lanes and the installation of one high occupancy vehicle lane in each direction.

Eight bridges will also be repaired and new lighting and barriers will be built. Del Duca says construction will cost $83 million and should be complete by the fall of 2017.
