Prom season is just around the corner. It’s a happy time for most students, but others struggle to find the money to buy an outfit.  That’s where “Prom Project” comes in.

The Hamilton Wentworth District School board foundation launched the initiative last year, to help students facing financial challenges and they’ve been overwhelmed by the response.  Thanks to private and corporate donations, organizers say they have 3 000 outfits for boys and girls of all shapes and sizes, but you’ll find more than just clothes.

“We have tables and tables of jewellery. We have many many pairs of shoes. We have accessories, everything you need and tomorrow on the day of, there actually hair and make-up demonstrations, as well as some eyebrow waxing and some professional photographers that will be here to take your photos.”

Prom Project is open to any student in Hamilton who needs a formal outfit. If you’re interested in picking one out, head to Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School, or Delta Secondary School between 9:30 am and 2 pm Saturday.
