Project Almanac is a sci-fi adventure from first-time feature film director, Dean Israelite. The movie features a core cast of notable up-and-comers including Jonny Weston, Sofia Black D’Elia, Sam Lerner, and Allen Evangelista. The film was originally scheduled for release last February but was rescheduled a few weeks before it hit theatres.

A brilliant high school student and his friends uncover blueprints for a mysterious device with limitless potential, inadvertently putting lives in danger.

Weston said the lead role of David Raskin was one that he was looking forward to, despite all of the challenges that came with becoming the character. “I lost a little bit of weight for the film because this kid isn’t necessarily athletic and what not so that was my greatest challenge actually—building this character, then staying in this character. Also the dark places that he goes in his mind when he is travelling back and these consequences start building up from the ripple effects of them time traveling. It became a little bit heavy and I take my roles seriously so that put me through a little ringer. Just the heaviness of contemplating that was a bit of a struggle.”

Project Almanac is rated PG.
