The trial resumed today for a Burlington teacher jailed in Indonesia, accused of sexually assaulting three students at a school there. Today’s session, which lasted over 6 hours, heard testimony from the principal at a Jakarta International School.

Neil Bantleman’s wife Tracy, spoke to CHCH News from Indonesia earlier with an update.

“She worked closely with my husband during the last school year. When the allegations against the teachers first arose in June 2014, she was actually named as an accomplice, so it was a very interesting session, for the reason that the prosecutors called her in as a witness.”

“These allegations are still out there naming her as an accomplice.”

Two other school teachers will testify at an upcoming court hearing. Bantleman has been in custody since July.

His trial is expected to last 3 months. If convicted, Bantleman could face up to 15 years in prison.
