Prince Philip has successful heart procedure in London hospital: palace

Prince Philip has had a successful heart procedure at a London hospital.

The 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, underwent a procedure for a pre-existing heart condition according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

The statement goes on to say Philip will remain in hospital for treatment, rest and recuperation for a number of days.

The prince has been hospitalized since Feb. 16 with an infection and then was transferred to the second hospital, a specialized cardiac care hospital, on Monday.
