In the richest deal ever given to a free agent pitcher, David Price has found a new home within the American League East.

The ace the Blue Jays brought in from Detroit at the trade deadline has agreed to terms on a 7-year, $217 million contract with the Boston Red Sox.

That’s two million more than Clayton Kershaw received from the Dodgers.

The deal is pending a physical.  Price can opt out after the 2018 season.

His average annual salary of $31 million ties him with Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers for the highest in baseball.

Price, 18-5  overall last season, was a key contributor for the Blue Jays down the stretch,  going 9-1 with an ERA of .230, but  he was winless as a starter in the postseason.

He helped Toronto snap a 22-year playoff drought.

According to reports, the Jays did not make Price an offer.

Blue Jays righthander Marcus Stroman is among those weighing in on Twitter.

Stroman,  who will now be the ace of the staff, tweets,  “Nothing but pure love for my man.  Worth every penny.  Bring that A game…   let the battles begin.  And as a PS… you looked better in blue.”
