(Update)

The gates to the 2014 Canadian National Exhibition open Friday. But members of the media were given a sneak preview today.

This year’s CNE is a showcase of every culture that makes up Canada.

General Manager David Bednar: “Over 150 things to do in a short day at the Ex.”

Our morning starts off with some quick footwork on the ground, and carefully crafted steps by the death defying “flying Wallendas” 10 metres in the air.

Tino Wallenda: “Standing on our heads, riding bicycles, sitting on chairs and doing all kinds of intricate pyramids.”

Now we get to get on a train and go eat delicious food. Guys, this is my job!

Just a quick ride away and we’re in for some grownups only fun.

The Northern Comfort Saloon is a new 19 plus venue where you’ll find plenty of beverages to wash down all that CNE grub.

After a long morning, we are more than ready to eat. And if you know me, this is the most important part of the CNE. So let’s dig in.

Save room for chocolate fried chicken, Thanksgiving dinner waffles, ice cream made with liquid nitrogen, and butter infused coffee — that’s right, butter infused coffee.

And that’s not all.

David: “I think we’re calling it the Funana, a chocolate dipped banana, battered and deep fried. Somebody told me that we’re gonna have bacon with corn on the cob.”

And if you still have an appetite for adventure, you can cap the day off with a kilometre long zip over the fairgrounds.
