We’ve seen a few flakes in the air over the last week or two.

According to Environment Canada it snows about 36 times in Hamilton each winter, with an average of about 120 cm.

Usually the city of Hamilton doesn’t get a lot of snow all at once, but there are exceptions.  Last winter we got a few.

But the winter that dropped the record amount of snowfall in a single day in Hamilton was on January 22, 1966 which saw 43 cm of snow.

January is the month when Hamilton gets most of the snow, 32 cm,  roughly 25% of the total for an average winter.

Environment Canada predicts something a little more like a “normal” winter for Southern Ontario this year.
