Premier Ford declares a state of emergency

Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency in Ontario in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.
The announcement was made this morning during a press conference held at Queen’s Park.
Ford said that this does not represent a total provincial shutdown. Essential services will still be available and the vast majority of businesses will remain open.
However, all ‘recommended’ closures will be ordered to close immediately. This includes all recreation programs, libraries, private schools, daycares, churches, as well as all bars and restaurants that do not offer take-out or delivery.
This announcement comes one day after Ontario announced 32 new cases of COVID-19.
