Premier welcomed to Stem Cell City
A leading Canadian research centre is launching a new portal to inform people about stem cell research.
The McEwan Centre for Regenerative Medicine in Toronto is starting a virtual community, called Stem Cell City. It will allow people to learn more about progress in finding cures, and provide updates on work being done on heart disease, diabetes, brain disorders, and spinal cord injuries.
Premier Dalton McGuinty was at Wednesday’s event. “It seems like every week there’s a new breakthrough somewhere in the world. So there’s no better time to bring the world together to promote the good work that’s being done. And there’s never been a better place to do that work than right here.” Stem cells were discovered by Toronto researchers 50 years ago.
