Premier Ford discusses healthcare crisis with Maritime premiers

Premier Doug Ford is issuing a call for professionals working in the healthcare system to rescue the government from its healthcare crisis.
After meeting with Maritime premiers in New Brunswick today, premier Doug Ford agreed Ontario healthcare is in crisis. Ford doesn’t seem to be able to pin down the cause of the crisis and says he needs help.
Health care professionals say they’ve already told the government what has to be done and suggest hiring more healthcare workers and paying them well.
The opposition NDP says it’s been clear for some time what Ontario health care needs. “What we need is more health care workers, more nurses, physicians, more lab techs and physios, and here he is in the Maritime provinces… lobster dinner may be very good… what we need right now is a plan to recruit, retain, return and respect our health care workers,” France Gélinas said.
Ford’s call for help is a surprise for people who’ve been following his record on health care. CHCH News Queen’s Park Producer, Randy Rath says, “it always seemed to be during the campaign that they had a solution they hadn’t unveiled to us and now it seems they don’t have a plan.”
