Potential internet blackout next week
Thousands of Canadians and people around the world could lose internet access next week.
The FBI is temporarily shutting down servers used to assist victims of a massive internet fraud ring on July 9th.
All computers that have the “DNSchanger” virus will meet a virtual brick wall until the virus has been wiped.
The online shutdown is the last stage in “Operation Ghost Click,” a two-year international investigation into a destructive hacker organization.
To check whether your computer is affected, a special website has been set up by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, in cooperation with the Canadian Radio-Television Telecommunications Commission and the Canadian Cyber Incident Response Centre.
