Post-secondary expansions

Premier Kathleen Wynne says her government is taking steps to expand colleges and universities across the province.

Wynne wants to ensure more students can get undergraduate degrees close to home. In the last ten years full-time enrolment in Ontario’s post-secondary system has increased by 160,000 students. More space is needed at many colleges and universities.

“We are inviting universities to submit proposals for new expanded campuses in under-served areas and our emphasis in this process will be on partnerships between universities and colleges. We are looking for that kind of lens on these proposals.”

Wynne says the province will work closely with municipalities to ensure certain colleges and universities can expand. The government hopes to fund 60,000 additional post-secondary education spaces.
